Retro tram schedule to change as of June 1
It should be reminded that the Retro tram runs in Riga streets every Saturday and Sunday, as well as on festive days. This summer Rīgas satiksme again offers Rigans and Riga guests to enjoy a trip in the Retro tram which is a copy of an old electric tramcar.
This year the Retro tram’s appearance has changed significantly; now the old tramcar boasts a red-yellow livery, which is very similar to the original colours of the first electric trams that ran in Riga streets more than 100 years ago.
The Retro tram will run on route „Ausekļa Street – Mežaparks”, and will stop at all stops on the route. Passengers will not only enjoy a trip in a historic tram, but also see the best views of Riga. For example, when going in Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard, magnificent view of Opera, Freedom Monument, Old Riga, Basteja hill and the National Theatre can be admired.
Tickets in the Retro tram are sold by the tram driver and are valid until he terminal. The price of one ticket for adults is LVL 1.00, for schoolchildren and students LVL 0.50 (they have to present a document confirming their status). Children until the age of 7 years, orphans until the age of 18 years, disabled persons of group 1 and 2, disabled persons until the age of 18 years, as well as persons accompanying disabled persons of group 1 or disabled persons until the age of 18 years can use the Retro-tram free of charge after presenting documents confirming their status.
This year Riga Zoo will also grant a 1 lats discount for entrance tickets to everybody having presented a Retro tram ticket (discounts will not sum up).
The Retro tram is also available for rent on workdays (Monday-Friday), and the customer can choose his/her own route. The rental is LVL 60.00 per hour (including VAT).
Departure times of the Retro tram, effective as of June 1, 2013.
